The tangled mess of wiring and sockets can be baffling if you're new to the AV game.

what it's all for and how do you connect your TV, VCR, Satellite/Terrestrial Box and DVD player ?

The traditional method for connecting a TV to a VCR is to use an RF cable Even today many people use this method when they should be using the 21-pin SCART connection found on nearly all modern AV equipment. A SCART interconnection will give better results, because the video and audio signals are directly routed from the VCR to the TV, bypassing the VCR's UHF modulator and the TV's tuner.
